Turning Survivors into Champions of Justice

The Paralegal Program of Samrakshak Samuha Nepal (SASANE) is a flagship survivor-led initiative that empowers women who have survived human trafficking and gender-based violence to become trained legal advocates and community leaders.

Through this program, survivors are not only supported to heal and rebuild their lives, but are also equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to help other women access justice and protection.

Why the Paralegal Program Matters

Many survivors of trafficking and violence face:

  • Fear of police and courts
  • Lack of legal knowledge
  • Social stigma and discrimination
  • Economic dependence and isolation

SASANE’s Paralegal Program directly addresses these barriers by placing trained survivor-paralegals at the grassroots level, where legal support is most needed.

How Paralegals Empower Survivors

SASANE paralegals:

  • Help survivors understand their rights and legal options
  • Assist in filing police reports and court cases
  • Provide emotional support during difficult legal processes
  • Reduce fear, stigma, and misinformation around justice
  • Encourage survivors to speak up and seek protection

As survivors themselves, paralegals bring trust, empathy, and lived experience, making justice more accessible and survivor-friendly.
